Dr. Andrea Leifer, PT, CLT-LANA
Lymphedema Specialist
Andrea a Doctor of Physical Therapy and a Certified Lymphedema Therapist credentialed by the Lymphology Association of North America. Her mission is to empower individuals struggling with swelling and meet them where they are at on their journey to feel like themselves again. Hearing one patient’s story of her challenges to access treatment for lymphedema in a city as limitless as New York was a defining moment in Andrea’s early career. She ignored those who said it was too soon to specialize and carved her own path to become a lymphedema therapist less than a year after beginning her clinical practice.
Her clinical experience encompasses a wide range of settings including both orthopedic care and oncology rehab in acute and outpatient facilities at specialty hospitals in New York City.
Andrea has spoken nationally and internationally about her research on modifications to traditional lymphedema therapy for individuals with malignant lymphedema. Andrea began her private practice in 2017 as a hybrid housecall and telehealth model to increase access to care beyond traditional clinics. In 2020, she transitioned to video consults only and continues to provide care from the comfort of home for both children and adults with lymphedema and other swelling disorders. Andrea is currently splitting her time between New York and California.
