Improving Knee (Bend) Flexion After MUA - Knee Replacement #ClinicCAM
Nov 12, 2021
Knee Bend (Flexion) is measured in degrees. 90-degrees of flexion is often the first goal to be reached between 6 and 12 weeks after knee replacement. If this goal is not met then a manipulation under anesthesia may be indicated.
In this video I share an episode from the clinic of a patient working on increasing knee flexion several weeks after a manipulation under anesthesia.
Approximately 5% of patients undergoing TKA experience loss of motion or arthrofibrosis. Manipulation under anesthesia (MUA) is generally indicated for patients who do not achieve more than 90-degrees of flexion by 6-12 weeks postoperatively.
